Dry Ice Blasting Near Me: What GTA Owners Should Know

What dry ice blasting does, where we run it across the GTA, how pricing works, and when sandblasting is still the better call.

If you are typing “dry ice blasting near me” into your phone, you are probably looking at a surface that needs to come clean without chemicals, without dust, and without shutting your operation down for a week. Dry ice blasting does exactly that. Compressed air fires small pellets of frozen carbon dioxide at the surface, the pellets knock off paint, grease, soot or grime, then turn straight to gas on impact. No spent media to haul away, no water to manage, nothing stuck in corners and vents. We covered the mechanics in what is dry ice blasting if you want the full picture.

Pure Blast Solutions is a Mississauga family business, and we run dry ice and sandblasting jobs across the GTA every week. With Labour Day behind us, shops, restaurants and production floors are back to full swing after a slower August, and that is exactly when owners notice the buildup they were ignoring all summer. Fall is a good window for the work, too. Cooler air means less humidity fighting you, and equipment that ran hot all summer can get a proper strip down before winter maintenance schedules kick in.

The photo above is a weathered log cabin exterior with the dry ice nozzle working across it, the clean wood showing right beside the grey. That is the kind of transformation we see constantly, just on different surfaces: brick facades, steel beams, printing presses, food processing equipment, and fire or mould damaged interiors.

Dry ice blasting in the GTA: where we work and what it costs

We cover the full GTA from Mississauga, so Toronto, Oakville, Brampton, Vaughan, Etobicoke, Burlington and everything in between is an easy drive. Downtown loading dock or industrial park in Milton, the compressor and the containment come to you.

Pricing depends on the job, not a flat rate quoted blind. A small equipment cleaning, one press or a set of HVAC coils, might be a few hundred dollars and half a day. A full facade or a large production floor with years of buildup is a bigger project, priced on square footage and how stubborn the coating is. We walk the site first, tell you straight what we are looking at, and give you a number before anyone fires up the compressor. No surprise invoices.

What makes GTA work different from a rural job is access and scheduling. Loading docks have narrow windows, downtown buildings have noise bylaws, and food facilities often need the work done overnight or on a weekend so production never stops. We build our schedule around that instead of asking you to build yours around ours.

Dry ice detailing: vehicles, machinery and delicate surfaces

Dry ice detailing is the same process scaled down for vehicles, machinery and surfaces where you cannot risk scratching or eroding what is underneath. Engine bays, undercarriages, restoration projects and marine equipment respond well because dry ice leaves no abrasive grit behind and it will not warp metal or attack rubber seals the way harsh chemicals can.

For restoration work that matters, because the goal is usually to preserve original parts, not replace them. Dry ice lifts grease, road tar and old undercoating without eating into the metal beneath, and the turnaround is normally a single visit with no soaking and no chemical runoff to dispose of afterwards. If you are comparing this to a degreaser and a pressure washer, understand it is a different tier of work, meant for baked-on grime that soap and water gave up on years ago.

Why dry ice over sandblasting, or the other way around

Both methods strip a surface down, but they work differently and suit different jobs. Sandblasting is abrasive. It physically wears away the top layer with media, and it is the right call for rust, heavy corrosion or thick old paint that has to come off down to bare metal or wood. Run the way we run it, wet with vacuum recovery, it is also nearly dustless.

Dry ice does not abrade the surface at all. Thermal shock and pressure pop the coating loose without touching the base material, which makes it the better choice on delicate substrates, electrical equipment you cannot get wet, or anywhere you need zero residue left behind. Concrete is a common question: sandblasting handles concrete well for paint, sealers and surface contamination, but if there is live equipment nearby or you cannot have any residue, dry ice is the safer route. We laid the three methods side by side in sandblasting vs. dry ice vs. laser.

We run both out of the same truck, so we are not steering you toward whichever service we would rather sell. We tell you which one fits the job in front of us.

Common questions

Is dry ice blasting better than sandblasting for outdoor equipment?

For outdoor gear with rust or heavy corrosion, sandblasting usually wins because it physically removes the damaged layer. Dry ice is the better choice when the equipment is sensitive to abrasion, cannot get wet, or you need zero cleanup afterwards.

Can you sandblast concrete without damaging it?

Yes. Sandblasting is a standard way to strip paint, sealers and stains off concrete. We adjust pressure and media to the age and condition of the slab so the surface is prepped, not chewed up.

How is dry ice blasting different from sandblasting in terms of mess?

Dry ice leaves nothing behind, since the pellets turn to gas on contact. Sandblasting, even our dustless wet version, still involves spent media that has to be contained, collected and disposed of properly, which we handle on every job.
